Urban Cycle Skills - 12 Apr 2016

Eleven women who are members of the CV Newcomers Club participated in a four hour Urban Cycling Skills Course organized and run by President Marg Harris and Director Angela Dawson, members of the Education Committee of the CVCCo. Coalition members, Sandi Ulmi and Julie Howell, assisted with the road ride portion of the class.

This course addresses the rights and responsibilities of cyclists and, following the CanBike format, it includes classroom theory and practical road riding.

The evaluations following the course were all extremely positive. "Excellent" was the overall comment and people stated that they felt more confident and secure riding in traffic and knowing that cyclists have the right to "take the lane" when necessary. They also said it inspired them to use their bikes more often.

These courses can be arranged from groups of 6 to 12. The cost is $40 per person which includes membership in the CVCCo. Contact the CVCCo if you are interested in taking the course, or volunteering.
